Film screening, About Elly on Saturday 25th Feb at 2.30pm

IYDA is showing the Iranian film ‘ABOUT ELLY’ on Sat 25th Feb at 2.30pm. Please see below for more information about this film.

About Elly (Persian: درباره الی‎, translit. Darbareye Elly) is a 2009 Iranian film directed by Asghar Farhadi. It is the fourth film by Farhadi. The film is about the relationship among some middle class families in Iran.
Farhadi won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 59th Berlin Film Festival for the film. The film was also nominated for 10 awards at the 27th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran where Farhadi won the Crystal Symorgh for best directing. About Elly was Iran’s official submission for the competition in Foreign Film section at the 82nd Academy Awards. It competed against films such as Bist, Tardid, Bipooli for Iran’s submission in the Academy Awards.

The film will be shown at the Woolwich Common Youth Centre (where we meet every Sat). Places are very limited so it would be helpful if you could let me know if you’re planning to join us.

There is no charge for this event but any contribution you would wish to make would go towards the future
developmet of a film club. This will, hopefully be the first of many outstanding Iranian films IYDA would try to bring to Greenwich.

Football tournament, February 2012

Saturday afternoon we held a fun and competitive 5 aside football tournament for all age groups from 8-19 years and staff and parents got involved to, with many supporting from the side lines! The tournament was followed by socialising amongst the peers with refreshments, fruit and nibbles.

Yalda

We recently held our annual Yalda party which was a great success with close to 120 people enjoying the food, music and the performances by the children.

Some of the older children did a reading explaining Yalda.

This was followed by a dance by the younger children. They all put a lot of work into learning and practicing for the performances and it was loved by everyone there.

We truly enjoyed ourselves at the Yalda evening, especially Maya. She had such good fun dancing and performing.
She has proudly been telling her friends about the dance and her evening.
